What is The Gospel - Amana Area Fellowship
The word Gospel, which actually means “Good News,” refers to all that Jesus Christ accomplished for us in His sinless life, His death on the cross, and His resurrection from the dead. The Gospel is the core truth of the Bible. This is Good News because God sent His Son Jesus to be the total payment for our sin!
Our sin separates us from God.
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
(Romans 3:23)
Jesus died in our place, as our substitute, paying the penalty for our sin. All who place their faith in Jesus alone for their salvation have a right relationship with God and eternal life. Only Jesus’ shed blood can pay our sin debt, but its up to you to take the next step.
Here are some Bible verses that point to the Gospel.
- “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16
- “God made Him who had no Sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.” (2 Corinthians 5:21)
- “God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)
- “Yet to all who receive Him, to those who believe in His name, He gave the right to become children of God,” (John 1:12)
- “That if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9)
- “Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved,” (Acts 16:31)
